Life lately
Summer is halfway over! Which I'm mostly sad about but I have to say, this heatwave we've been in for the last two weeks has not been pleasant. (I just want 70 degree weather!) But there's just something about the beginning of summer that fills me with joy. That's when it starts to get warm, I know my birthday is around the corner (June baby over here!), and there's just this anticipation I feel knowing there's going to be so many fun things to plan with family and friends. And so far? My summer has exceeded my expectations. But more importantly of all, it's felt really normal and it feels like a blessing to get here.

One-sentence reviews
These are books (physical + ebooks) from my TBR or the library aka the non-review books.
- Reminders of Him by Colleen Hoover (⭐⭐⭐⭐): This was my third Colleen Hoover book and the first that I truly considered a winner.
- Out of the Corner by Jennifer Grey (⭐⭐⭐⭐): I may have picked this up because I grew up loving Dirty Dancing but it was the author's refreshingly candid writing that made the memoir so enjoyable to read.
- This Time Tomorrow by Emma Straub (⭐⭐⭐💫): The first half of the book dragged for me but the second half found its stride and I ended up liking the direction it went in.
- Reason Why by Tudor Robins (⭐⭐⭐): This fifth book in her Island series ultimately felt like fan service but I'm still glad I read it!
- Shoreline Drive (Sanctuary Island, #2) by Lily Everett (⭐⭐💫): This companion novel didn't even come close to how much I enjoyed the first book in this horse romance series.
- The Fine Print (Dreamland Billionares, #1) by Lauren Asher (⭐⭐⭐⭐): I really liked the premise of 3 brothers needing to fulfill their grandfather's wishes in order to inherit his famous theme park!
- Misty of Chincoteague (Misty, #1) by Maguerite Henry (⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐): I last read this as a middle schooler so I had completely forgotten the story and how wonderful it is (although in hindsight, story is for an older audience IMHO!).
- Sea Star: Orphan of Chincoteague (Misty, #2) by Maguerite Henry (⭐⭐⭐⭐): Another great story about Chincoteague horses and the two kids, Paul and Maureen.
- Stormy, Misty's Foal (Misty, #3) by Marguerite Henry (⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐): This installment dealt with even heavier, more grown up topics that made me more emotional that I expected (how is this one for kids?!).
- Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus (⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐): This book took me completely by surprise and used storytelling devices that I didn't expect to work for me but it really, really did.
- Twist Love by Ana Huang (⭐⭐): While there were redeeming qualities about the book (representation, group of BFFs), the story and writing overall were a hot mess.

How's your month been?
I've been so curious about Lessons in Chemistry! (And I am also OVER this heatwave.)
