Life lately
The first month of the new year is almost done! January has felt incredibly fast and slow all at the same time. Work has been a struggle (what else is new) and I miss the city and being able to meet up with friends there before or after work. But I think working from home this month has been a good way to reset and get some much needed R&R.
I've hung out with my two best friends who live in NJ. My superintendent finally decided to fix and paint pretty much all my ceilings (so many cracks and dark spots!), not to mention repainted my entire bathroom. The fresh coat of paint has just breathed new life into the apartment. And it was nice because my uncle hung out with me during the two days my place was getting worked on and after the painter was done, we cleaned everything from top to bottom. A super clean living space makes me very happy! Then I've been spending time with family, pampering myself with manicures and massages, playing a lot of Animal Crossing (my island is done!), and just trying to get into a good routine. Next month I return to the office and hopefully returning to a slightly more normal again, since omicron seems to be finally slowing down. I'm excited to see what next month will bring.

One-sentence reviews
These are books (physical + ebooks) from my TBR or the library aka the non-review books.
- Kingdom of the Wicked (Kingdom of the Wicked, #1) by Kerri Maniscalo (⭐⭐⭐⭐): I flew through this YA fantasy involving the princes of Hell and twin sisters, who also happen to be witches.
- Kingdom of the Cursed (Kingdom of the Wicked, #2) by Kerri Maniscalo (⭐⭐⭐⭐💫): This one was even better (and steamier) and I cannot wait to read the next installment.
- Crossings by Alex Landragin (⭐⭐⭐): This book can actually be read two ways which is so cool but as interesting as the premise was, I didn't really connect with the story.
- The Phone Booth at the Edge of the World by Laura Imai Messina (⭐⭐⭐⭐💫): Inspired by an actual phone booth in Japan, I really enjoying this moving novel about grief and hope.
- The Lost Book of the White (The Eldest Curses, #2) by Cassandra Clare (⭐⭐⭐⭐): I feel like I'm in the minority when I say that the OG Mortal Instruments crew will always be my fave and I loved reuniting with them in this book.
- The Legacy (Off-Campus, #5) by Elle Kennedy (⭐⭐⭐💫): It was so fun to see what's been going on in these couples/friends lives and it made me LOL multiple times.
- Before & After: A Pandemic Novel by Tudor Robbins (⭐⭐⭐): As much as I like horse books, I think it was too soon for me to read a "pandemic novel."
