Links + Loves

Here are some non-bookish articles I really liked this past month and my latest loves.

Links
1 / Who hasn't heard Oprah's speech from the Golden Globes? I didn't watch the awards ceremony but I did look this up the day after. Absolutely inspiring.

2 / The EveryGirl shares "6 Easy Things to Do on Sunday That Will Improve Your Week" and I already do everything on this list except sleep early. (Working on that!)

3 / Most people I know prefer to shower at night but I've always been a morning shower-er. This New York Times article on the matter makes a good case for doing so but ultimately provides a compromise.

4 / A Beauty Junkie in London's "Here's to the OG blogger" is a great read for anyone that's been blogging for 7+ years (like myself!).

5 / One of my pet peeves is when people give me grief for taking photos because they assume I only do it to post on Instagram. They couldn't be more wrong. I love how PopSugar addresses this with "A Case For Why Taking 'Too Many' Photos Is Actually a Way to Live in the Moment".

6 / I dare you to read Ellen Pompeo's no holds barred interview with Hollywood Reporter and not think she's a freaking badass.

7 / I've been feeling stuck lately and it's a feeling that seems to creep up every couple of years. On Thought Catalog, the writer says that success is "not a straight line forever climbing upward" and this feeling is normal. I found a lot of comfort in this post.

8 / I semi-regularly go through my Twitter and Instagram accounts to unfollow people, for various reasons (ie. because of stupid algorithms, I ironically have to follow less people to actually see more). But PopSugar frames unfollowing as a form of self-care and you know what? I agree with that too.

9 / I have yet to travel solo although it's something I have considered. Brooke Saward from World of Wanderlust shares the lessons she's learned from traveling solo.

Loves

1 / This Dermasuri Mitt is seriously the best body exfoliator. You use it while in the shower and you can actually see the dead skin being scrubbed away.

2 / I told myself I wouldn't buy any new hair products but the stylist who cuts my hair used the R+Co Dallas Thickening Spray on my hair and highly recommended it. My hair feels so soft after blow drying!

3 / If you follow me on Twitter, you know I've been rewatching Fringe and halfway through, I really wanted a mug. I ended up buying Fringe Division Mug from CafePress and it's perfect.

  1. I'm in total agreement about unfollowing being a good form of self-care! I still occasionally end up unfollowing certain accounts for my own reasons, and it really helps reset my mindset.
