Table for Two #9: Spot Dessert Bar

For this month's Table for Two, I'll be chatting about Spot Dessert Bar and Alexa is featuring CajunSea & Oyster Bar.

In addition to my Project Ice Cream list, I also have a bunch of lists in general about things I want to see in NYC and of course, places I want to eat at. Spot Dessert Bar has been on my list so I was excited to finally check it out. It's desserts tapas – which is the best idea ever – and even though you can buy them individually, we chose the 4 tapas deal and shared.

We tried:

  • the chocolate green tea lava cake (warm dark chocolate cake filled with green tea ganache, green tea ice cream),
  • golden toast (crisp honey buttered toast, fresh strawberries, whipped cream, condensed milk ice cream),
  • yuzu eskimo (frozen japanese citrus cream bar, chocolate ganache, strawberries, oreo crumbs) and,
  • banana chouff (crispy choux-puff hybrid filled with bruleed bananas, banana milk ice cream and caramel sauce).
Neither of us liked the yuzu eskimo (it was too tart) but we liked everything else! Our favorites were the green tea lava cake (we love matcha) and the golden toast (not what we expected but in a good way!). We also got their Thai iced tea because we loved how it looked in the lightbulb glass. (Packaging is everything.)

Overall, we both really enjoyed this place ad would go back. We went to the Korea-town location but there's also one St. Mark's that I'd like to check out next time.

You can find Spot Dessert Bar at 11 W 32 St (top floor of Food Gallery 32).

Let us know if you check it out!

Alexa of Alexa Loves Books and I have teamed up to bring you Table for Two, a collaboration that involves two of our favorite things - New York City and food. The two of us will be highlighting restaurants and dessert spots in New York City. You'll be hearing our personal opinions on the place and the food, as well as where you can go to try it out for yourself.

  2. Honestly, Thai iced tea is ALWAYS a good idea (especially when it comes in such a cute glass)! And that golden toast was delightful.
