Life lately
How is summer more than half over already?! I can't wrap my mind around it. The last few weeks have been filled with birthdays (lots of July babies in my fam!), weekend trips, ice cream (not nearly enough), meet ups with friends and work-related outings. I'm honestly kind of exhausted, which made this past Saturday's spa day with Carina so perfectly timed. I had a whole of day of doing nothing but sit around in a robe and bathing suit while talking to my best friend. (I totally get why people treat themselves to spa days now.)

Song (Note: No idea what they're saying but I've been really into J Balvin lately. I think because his songs make me want to dance and during long days when I'm feeling antsy, this is the perfect beat for me to work to.) |

On the blog
Read but not reviewed
- Words in Deep Blue by Cath Crowley - 5 stars; unexpectedly moving and totally for book worms.
- In a Perfect World by Trish Doller - 4 stars; vivid descriptions of Cairo plus an honest look at cultural, economic and romantic differences.
- Unknown (Unknown #1) by Wendy Higgins - 3.5 stars; interesting dystopian-like setting, story and characters but the relationship drama was too much most of the time.
- After All by Karina Halle - 4.25 stars; I almost always enjoy Halle's books to a certain degree but I really liked this one!
- On the Island by Tracey Garvis-Graves - 4.5 stars; Estelle recommended this to me years ago and I finally borrowed it from the library. It was unputdownable.
- Lords of Shadows by Cassandra Clare - 5 stars; say what you will of Cassie Clare but I love the Shadowhunter world and this latest series has me so hooked.
- Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie - 3 stars; I loved the social and cultural commentary but given the summary, I had high expectations for the relationship between the two main characters and it was just meh.

Oh man...I need a spa day. You make it sound so, so nice. (I've never had one ;_;) And I also definitely want some ice cream now.

I need a spa day, stat. It's been one busy (and mostly fun) summer for me! But July was the month I got sick (boo) so that wasn't fun :( Also, different topic, but I LOVE your new bookshelf lots.
