Monday Musings

I keep telling myself that I'll regularly do posts where I just write about life (instead of just once or twice a year), so I'm finally making it happen. Here goes!

I had the flu for the first time in my life and it was the worst thing ever. It's not an exaggeration to say that it feels like you've been hit by a bus. But stubborn me wanted to believe it was just a cold and even went to work one day (terrible idea!) and then ended up having to stay home the entire rest of the week. I definitely started experiencing some cabin fever though after day 2 of not leaving my apartment but on the plus side, I watched a ton of Doctor Who. I'm almost all caught up! But I'll leave my thoughts on that series for another post. (All you need to know is that Tennant is my Doctor.)

But now that I'm finally back to normal, I've been planning things left and right. I got a much-needed dinner with Estelle and we may see a show soon. Alexa and I already have tickets for our annual three ballets plus Anastasia. More birthday things to attend this month. And some unexpected vacation plans!

Jackie (my travel buddy) and I were planning to go to Iceland in April but when it hit February and I still hadn't heard from her, I knew something was up. It turns out she can't do Iceland this year and while I'm bummed, I totally understand. Still, I started looking into what I could do around April or May because my wanderlust is itching right now. I'm pretty sure I want to go to Madrid or Barcelona and surprisingly, my best friend Mary Ann wants to go with me. We got breakfast this past weekend (which sidenote: super nice! we cooked at her apartment and just sat around talking) and when I mentioned what had happened, she suddenly said, well I could go with you. We've never traveled together before but fingers crossed, I'd really love for this to work out!

That's pretty much life right now. It's super busy at work but things have been good lately, in spite of some late nights. I'm getting more and more involved with Books on the Subway (I'm dropping books this week!). And of course, making plans with friends and my cousins. I haven't been reading as much due to busy-ness and sickness but I'm okay with it. And to be honest, it's still a lot compared to the average person. It's actually been nice to slow down a bit and find more of a balance between everything going on in my life.

How are you all doing these days?

  1. I love that you did a random life update post (and you should definitely do it more often)! Having the flu SUCKS. I remember being super sick last year, and it was the most miserable thing ever ever ever.
