In honor of this past Sunday's National Friendship Day, Alexa, Kelly & I are sharing a couple fun posts this week to celebrate.
So it's the last post in our Friendship Festival and of course, we had to do one book-related post and it was a challenge!
I nodded. "I do. I prefer it. But...it doesn't mean I don't want someone to love me." My eyes stung, as if tears were on their way. I bit my lip, debating if I should say more.
"It doesn't mean that I don't have a lot of love in me to give someone."
I think this book and this character will always make me think of her.
Paige from The Start of Me and You reminds me of Alexa.
I think Alexa will be happy to see that I picked her because I know she absolutely loves this book and because I've heard her say she relates to Paige so much. It's easy to see why. They both value friendships. They both love to read. They both love to make lists. And most importantly, they're both warm, extremely caring people who want to experience the most out of life. What always stuck out to me the most about The Start of Me and You were the friendships and particularly Paige's role among the girls. She's the one you can call in the middle of the night to pick you up. Or to plan an impromptu get together for someone's birthday. Or just be there when you need it. And Alexa is absolutely that person too.
And since I shared a quote for Kel, I'm going to share a line that I feel confident that Alexa loved (and related to; I know I did!):
“In friendship we are all debtors. We all owe each other for a thousand small kindnesses, for little moments of grace in the chaos.”
Pick a character from a book that reminds you of Kelly and Alexa.
Personally I can't wait to see who the girls picked for me but I'm also happy with my choices for them. At first, I really struggled because I know I've thought this or that character has reminded me of them but of course, I was blanking. Then suddenly it became very clear...
Vera from Love, in English reminds me of Kelly.
I read Love, in English because of Kelly and it's easy to see why it resonated with her. And I could immediately see a lot of Kelly in Vera's vibrant personality. Vera is this independent woman with a passion for life and everything the world has to offer. She's not afraid to go after what she wants or say how she feels but most importantly of all, she is this absolutely loving and caring soul. And basically, this is an exact description of Kelly as well.
I know there's a passage in the book that just gets to Kelly (and quite frankly, me too) that goes:
"You are lonely, but you say you like to be alone."I know there's a passage in the book that just gets to Kelly (and quite frankly, me too) that goes:

Hope you enjoyed joining us this week for our little Friendship Festival!
I love the quotes you picked for your friends. :)
ReplyDeleteKind of ecstatic about you choosing Paige as the character that reminds you of me! I love that book (as you well know) and I certainly identified with Paige in many ways <3 I think your choice is certainly spot on, and it's really cool to see your take on WHY I'm like her!
