ACOTAR: Book Birthday Party!

I am so excited to be celebrating the release of A Court of Thorns and Roses by one of my favorite authors, Sarah J. Maas! I remember when I got my review copy, I had to fight the urge to drop everything and read it. Instead, I decided to save it for a rainy day because I just absolutely knew that if there's one thing that can completely uplift my spirits and provide me with a perfect escape from reality, it's a Sarah J. Maas book. And I was right. I am continually impressed by her writing, her world-building and the characters she creates. ACOTAR reads like a dark, twisted and sexy fairytale and I couldn't get enough of it.

Alexa of Alexa Loves Books and I decided that we had to celebrate today's release of A Court of Thorns and Roses. Because masks are an important part of the story, we decided to share our favorite fictional masquerade ball and what we'd wear to the event.

I immediately thought of The Labyrinth, which is one of my favorite movies. That ballroom scene with Sarah (Jennifer Connelly) and the Goblin King Jared (David Bowie) is such a standout one. Everyone is wearing masks but them. "As the World Falls Down", a song I love, plays in the background. And Sarah is wearing that big white ballgown. As a little girl, I just remember thinking that she looked like a princess. Granted, a princess dancing with a creepy king (David Bowie kinda freaks me out in this movie) but let's just ignore that part.

Now as for what I would wear to a ball ...

I'd wear a beautiful purple gown and this silver mask. It's me so of course I'd choose something purple!

If you haven't read or purchased a copy of A COURT OF THORNS AND ROSES
I highly encourage that you do so! It's such an amazing book.

Hope you enjoying joining in our masquerade fun. Make sure to check
out Alexa's post and tell us about YOUR favorite masquerades!

  1. Seriously, that purple dress + silver mask look lovely! It would be fun to actually go to masquerade and dress up, don't you think? And I love that you chose the ball from Labyrinth! Hooray for masquerades, and hooray for celebrating ACOTAR!

  2. I still haven't read this book yet (yeah, I know), but I love Labyrinth! That film never gets old. I just introduced two of my little cousins to it a year and a half ago, and they loved it. Such a great film!
