It's important to take a step back and appreciate what's going right in your life, even when it feels like so much is going wrong. I use to do these happy lists from time to time way back when and I think I should start this up again.
What are your happy thoughts these days?
Sending you all the virtual hugs you could use!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about being a worrier and wishing you could only worry about things when they happen; I'm terrible at worrying about the possibility that something might happen in the future when there is no real evidence that it could even be a possibility. So stressful!
A couple years ago I read a book called 1,000 Gifts by Ann Voskamp as part of a church small group. In it she starts to list daily gifts from God and tries to reach 1000 of them. We did this and man... listing all the good things in my life REALLY helped to lift my spirits and I started looking at the good things instead of focusing on the bad. When I was having a bad day, going back and reading these good things instantly cheered me up.
It's definitely important to focus on what's going right and the happiness we have; I think when you really look for it, the good greatly outweighs the bad! I hope you continue to work on your happy lists and that they help you! It looks like you've got a lot of wonderful things going! :)
Oh, and my happy thoughts these days... sunny spring days that are on the horizon. :)
This is such great post! I totally agree- I think it is so easy to get weighed down by all the things that are NOT going right. We need to remember the good things and brush off the bad. I ALSO work from home on Fridays, and somehow it makes the rest of the week that much more bearable. And I love that The Walking Dead is on your list - it makes me happy too :)
ReplyDeleteIt sucks when in your of *those moods*, but I'm glad to hear you're pulling yourself out of it and thinking happy thoughts! I've been reading a fab book (Far From You) and watching some great TV - two things that always make me happy. And homemade, healthy banana ice-cream - YUM! Or mango gelato - YUM again! Another recent thing you must watch if you haven't (it's a heart warmer indeed!) is the video, Love Has No Labels. I just posted it, if you're interested! Definitely happy-thought worthy!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely agree! Sometimes, when you're really feeling down in the dumps, it helps to think of all the good things (big or small) that are a part of your life. I have a habit of doing the same thing whenever I get too stressed or sad, and it really helps me shift my perspective and mindset. Hmm, current happy thoughts? Finally having Spotify Premium (YAY MUSIC), new books and new bookish projects, new traditions with Macky, planning surprises (heeheehee) and getting to hang out with you tonight ;)
