Five things from this past week!
1. Lost Girl
I needed a new show to binge-watch and I decided to go with Lost Girl. I started last week and I'm already on Season 2. It's a supernatural drama about all different kinds of Fae and follows one in particular, Bo, who happens to be a succubus and doesn't know it. She learns to control her powers (total badass!), has the best sidekick ever and BFF in Kenzi (aka Ksenia Solo from Life Unexpected, she's awesome here!) and one of her love interests Dyson is pretty sexy (I want them to end up together!). There are 5 seasons so I have a lot to catch up on.
2. Reorganizing my bookshelves
I was looking at my bookshelves over the weekend – all 4 of them – and I realized they were overflowing with books. I see all these pictures on Pinterest of shelves that are color-coordinated or neatly organized. But me? I was running out of room. So I decided to remove books that I could either sell or giveaway and I rearranged them to free up more space. Plus it let me use cute little candles and other knick knacks for decor that I had hidden in my closet. I'm pretty happy with the results!
3. Trader Joe's
Trader Joe's is my new favorite supermarket! I usually don't go because there's only one in my town so it tends to get pretty crowded. But I ran out of cookie butter and needed to restock. And not only did I get my cookie butter but also fresh flowers, snacks and a lot more. I had no idea the prices were so great. I thought it was going to be like Whole Foods where everything is ridiculous. Seriously, I'm going here every weekend.
I'm not planning to write a review of this book but I had to mention it. An old coworker of mine lent Norwegian Wood to me last year and I finally read it. It took me a while because this whole time I was worried I wouldn't be able to get into it. I was worrying over nothing! The book was amazing. The author's words immediately drew me into the story of Toro and his relationship with Naoko and just everything he goes through. It's poignant and bittersweet but there's hope in it too. Beautiful book. It's my first time reading Haruki Murakami and I definitely plan to read more.
5. Dinners with the besties
It was just one of those weeks where I needed some girl time. Carina and I met up for soft tofu, coffee and worked on our super secret side project. But mostly it was just nice to see her. Then Loren and I got both our hair done on Saturday and had a nice late lunch afterwards. The dessert on the left is from the place we went to and it was delicious!
So that's what the last week has been like!
What's on your mind?
I need to start reading some Murakami and dinner with friends is one of my favourite things. Looks like you had a lovely week (:
ReplyDeleteTrader Joe's is the best! Our only one is like 30 minutes away, in the town I went to college, so it's ALWAYS crowded with students. But my mom and I brave it regularly because really...it's the best! :D
ReplyDeleteI love Lost Girl! I watched the first season on Netflix, but the second season wasn't up at the time, so I just kinda lost track. I'll have to add it to my watch list!
ReplyDeleteI use to be obsessed with Lost Girl! I binge watched it in a week and absolutely loved Kenzie, she really gave the show life and always had me cracking up. Dyson and her need to be endgame they're perfect together *cries*
ReplyDeleteI really need to reorganize my bookshelves, especially YA shelf because oh boy, no more room, and I need to make space for new ones. I want to get rid of some, but I'm weird and have fond memories of some books even though I may not have liked it.
ReplyDeleteTrader Joe's is the best everrrrr.
That desert looks so scrumptious! Glad to see that you've had a great week! :)
ReplyDeleteI love when you do a "Five Things" post! It's always so fun to get a glimpse of what you've been up to lately ;) Love what you've done with your shelves (I SEE MY FACE ON THERE. Subtle, I am not), love the look of that dessert (YUM!) and I also really love Trader Joe's. I wish it weren't always so crowded, but it's seriously so great to go and get stuff from there!
