Alexa and I have organized a full week of posts to celebrate the release of Strange and Ever After, the third and final book in Susan Dennard's amazing series. Hope you'll join us!
Now to end close out the surprise party, we have a little Q&A with Susan!
SUSAN: So, my fave scene in Strange & Ever After is… Well, I think it’s a tie between the crazy oh-my-gosh-we’re-gonna-die! parachute scene (Chapter 8) and then a certain romantic scene in the wheat fields around Heliopolis (Chapter 11). The parachute jump was just SO fun to write—my adrenaline was pumping as if I was actually there with Eleanor, flying through the air and trying to avoid the Hell Hounds. And then the romance scene…Well, it was a very ethereal scene for me to imagine—the setting, the silence, the tension—and I hope I managed to convey that. ;)

SUSAN: In all honesty, no. I’m really quite proud of how the series turned out, and I grew so much alongside Eleanor. Publishing one’s debut isn’t an easy experience, and I think I learned more a lot from Eleanor on how to handle it all. I learned to be brave even when I’m terrified. I learned that true loyalty and love means picking your battles. And I learned that I always have a choice—in happiness, in my actions, in my future.

ReplyDeleteI just love Susan. I just love the Something Strange & Deadly series! I'm so glad we were able to give it a proper send-off with our surprise party. Plus, the promise of a story in the future with these characters? YES PLEASE.
