TGIF at GReads is a feature for Fridays to propose a a book-related question to everyone and to re-cap the week's posts. Definitely a fun thing for book lovers to participate in. This is my first time joining!
This Friday's Question:
Which books do you go to for comfort & familiarity?
Is there a type of book you seek out when you're needing that extra bit of comfort in your life?
Is there a type of book you seek out when you're needing that extra bit of comfort in your life?
It's funny, if you were to ask me this same question about music or movies, I would have answers in an instant. But comfort books? I was stumped. Even though I can rattle off a lot list of favorites, I rarely re-read books. Then I stared at my book shelves and the answer was right in front of me.
Not only do I have hard copies of the books, but I also have them on my Nook. I haven't re-read the entire series (yet!) but for months, I'd reread all my favorite parts at random moments. At night after a long day at work or on a Saturday morning when I wasn't ready to start my day. I'd go back and read all about Megan and Ash. Yes, just their scenes. And yes, I know this makes me a total sap but I love their relationship, okay? I can't help it! There's just something about the quiet intensity of these characters and their feelings for one another. Then throw in this magical faery world and the amazing writing of Julie Kagawa and you've got the perfect escape from reality in the form of these books. And when I want comfort.. I guess that's exactly what I'm looking for.

I was pretty much Team Ash from the beginning :) But I was sad that Puck didn't find love at all throughout the series. He deserves some happiness too!!
DeleteYou just reminded me that I MUST start this series. I have yet to read it, but most of my friends loved it. I really want to check it out!
ReplyDeleteYesss, definitely check it out. You won't be disappointed!
DeleteThat series is at the top of my list to get to! Even more so now :-)
