My thoughts ...
One sentence summary: Anna David is in her 30s and not sure if she's made the right choices in life, so she decides to follow the advice of a book called Sex and the Single Girl by Helen Gurley Brown to bring about some changes. The good: The author has a great writing voice. I could hear it so clearly in my head and I found myself laughing half the time at the things she puts herself through to find a guy. But she never comes across to me as desperate. She's an intelligent woman who's feeling a little lost and who's hardly ventured out of her comfort zone. (Something I can relate to!). So hearing her adventures into online and speed dating, trying to new things and traveling was so interesting and fun to read about.
The bad: I don't have anything bad to say. If I had to pick something super nit-picky, I'd say sometimes the way she jumps from topic to topic can be kind of jarring.
Do I recommend?: YES! Especially if you are a single gal like me.
Happy reading!
I'm interested in picking this one up. I know, I know.. I still have all those other books I have to read but your review makes me want to jump on this book as soon as I finish the others!
ReplyDelete@reena - You should! But after you finish the other ones first =P
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like it would be a lot of fun to read! I enjoy a good memoir every now and then, and this is definitely going on my list.
